Frequently Asked Questions

The Wedding Day

What is the sequence of events on the wedding / renewal of vows day?

For civil ceremonies, and Renewal of Vows there is a short, informal service, the local registrar reads the vows in Greek then English. (A copy of the vows is presented to you during your first meeting with your wedding planner in Rhodes).  Following the ceremony there is time for photographs before you move on to begin your celebrations.

A catholic wedding at the Santa Maria Church takes approximately 40 minutes.

Must we have formal wear for the ceremony?

No, anything from smart casual is acceptable. Remember you are marrying in a hot country, so comfort should be a priority.

What happens if it rains?

With 300 days of sunshine a year, it rarely rains on a wedding day in Rhodes. However should the unthinkable happen, outdoor ceremonies will be relocated indoors, either to the Town Hall, or a location chosen by the registrar.  Reorganisation is done efficiently, sympathetically and with the minimum of disruption to your wedding as possible.

Do you do more than one wedding a day?

No, your Eros Weddings coordinator only makes one wedding a day to ensure you have a dedicated service.

Additional Services

Do we have to wait until we are in Rhodes to book any optional extras?

No, these can be pre-booked and paid for prior to your departure from the UK; alternatively you can choose and pay during your first consultation with your wedding coordinator.

How soon in advance do we need to book our reception venue?

Larger groups are strongly advised to book their reception venue in advance to ensure availability.    Couples taking advantage of our Dream Rhodes Weddings can take advantage of Eros Weddings' Reception Arrangement service.

When booking one of our Luxury Hotel Ceremony & Reception service, reception arrangement is automatically included.

Smaller wedding parties have the option of waiting until they arrive on the island to pick a venue.  Either you will find a venue you particularly love or Eros Weddings can suggest locations to suit your taste and style. Rhodes is blessed with a wealth of venues for you to enjoy your reception.

Can you help us find accommodation?

Yes, when you are booking one of our Luxury Hotel Weddings. Please note that we do not help you choose or arrange accommodation under the Dream Rhodes Weddings option.

Legal & Paperwork

Is our wedding recognised as legal??

Yes, once you have signed the Register your wedding becomes legal and binding. It is possible to lodge a copy of your Wedding Certificate (in Greek and in English) with your local Registrar on your return to the U.K, although you are not obliged to do so. Renewal of Vows ceremonies are not legally binding.

What Legal Documentation do I need to bring to Rhodes?

How long do we have to be on the island before we can marry?
